5 Reasons to Choose Vinyl Windows
When it comes time to choosing new windows for your home, it’s easy to be overwhelmed with options. We understand how easy it can be to get lost in a sea of options. Because of this, we’re sharing more about one of our favorite window materials, vinyl! Here are 5 reasons to choose vinyl windows for your home.
One: Energy Efficiency
When we say energy efficient and environmentally friendly window frames, most people think of wood. However, wood is actually less sustainable than vinyl.
The production process of vinyl widows uses less energy and emits fewer greenhouse gasses than wood production. Though vinyl is a bit more expense than aluminum, which is what most older windows are composed of, the quality is worth the cost.
Another thing that makes vinyl windows incredibly energy efficient is that they can withstand extreme temperatures. Additionally, modern vinyl windows are now double pane. This allows for an extra layer of insulation between your home and the outdoor temperature.
Two: Nearly Limitless Options
Perhaps the best thing about vinyl windows is that you have limitless options when it comes to style. At Bell Brothers, we can provide you with a variety of colors, shapes, and styles. Each one fitted to your exact look and need.
Want the look of wood? Vinyl can also be made to look like the classic wood windows we see all over Sacramento. Additionally, vinyl windows can be retrofitted to match almost any size specifications you have.
Three: Durability and Ease of Maintenance
Another reason we can’t get enough of vinyl windows are their durability. As we mentioned above, they are made to withstand extreme heat and cold. While we don’t see much of that in Sacramento, it’s nice to know there are windows that can withstand any storm Central California throws at us.
Durable windows mean a reduced need for maintenance. While wood windows need to be sanded and resealed every so often, that is not the case with vinyl windows.
You can have the frames cleaned for aesthetic reasons and that’s all the work they need. Beyond that, you’re not looking at too much maintenance. We also recommend wiping down the inside of the glass every so often, but that’s about it.
Four: You Can Choose Your Own Glass
We mentioned before one of our favorite things about vinyl windows are the options. This also extends to glass.
Do you want one or two panes of glass? Vinyl frames can be made to accommodate double pane—and even triple—pane windows. You also have a wide variety of options when it comes to UV protection and tint options. The sky truly is the limit.
Five: Reduction in Heating and Cooling Costs
Drafty windows are responsible for high utility bills. The cracks and fissures in windows alone can account for 25% to 50% of home heating and cooling bills.
Vinyl is a wonderful material for keeping your treated air in and the outdoor temperatures where they belong. While wood can warp during our somewhat wet winters, vinyl won’t.
This building material retains its shape and fit no matter the season, temperature, or climate. Just remember that not all vinyl frames are created equal. You’ll want to ask what frames have an ENERGY-STAR rating.
